BLACK HAWAIIAN SHEEP

BLACK HAWAIIAN SHEEP
Black Hawaiian rams are believed to be either a cross between mouflon and black-haired sheep or a type of Barbados ram. Some believe they are so named because sailors left them on small Hawaiian Islands to fatten up and be ready for harvesting on a return trip.
They have a thick black coat which fades and turns reddish depending on sun exposure. Their rarity and large corkscrew horns make them a popular exotic to hunt! Males can weigh up to 150lb and females typically weigh around 75lb. The horns of a large male can measure more than 40 inches and weigh up to 30lb.
